Simple justice

Get caught stealing in a market in Prague?
Your picture gets posted at the entrance to the market. The words roughly translate as "Attention, thief"
Of course, in the UK, that wouldn't be allowed as it infringes the human rights of the thief. Well if that's the case-Stop thieving.

Panasonic DMC-TZ20 1/2000 second F/4.0 ISO 160 24 mm (35mm equiv.)

ursulakatariina from Greenock, United Kingdom

Great idea and should be taken into use in every part of the world. :)

Tede from Aubenas 07, France

"Wanted "!!!! There must be bounty hunters in Prague, maybe Lucky Luke :)) A stunning image. Good day.

Stephen from Canberra, Australia

Well seen - I think we may have something to learn from this!

30 May 2011 6:24am

drole d'idée !

30 May 2011 6:25am

Ronnie 2¢ from Atlantic Shores, United Kingdom

Seems like a good idea . . the images look suspiciously 'posed', though . . not very furtive !

30 May 2011 6:42am

Luke from Spokane, United States

I love this method of crime fighting!

30 May 2011 6:55am

David from Avranches, France

That's one way of doing it.

30 May 2011 7:27am

PRASHANT from Mumbai, India

I agree with ursulakatariina's view ,it's very useful to tourist...

30 May 2011 7:29am

Lydia.Dd from de partout et de nulle part, France

Excellent documentary. Food for thought

30 May 2011 7:57am

Phil David Morris 2011 from Saskatoon,, Canada

I remember and this brings to mind others who have done the same here in our
country. It might be devastating to those however who did it and had a highly
guilty conscience and embarrassed easily. Some of these guys look pretty shifty.

30 May 2011 7:57am

DowsherVision from PARIS, France

I like the one at the bottom left :)) Nice shot and report.

30 May 2011 8:00am

Adela Fonts from Barcelona, Spain

Sounds like a good idea ... if you see your next extreme precautions ... It is very difficult to reconcile human rights with all that ... How? ... I am very primary perome may seem adjusted to the size of the problem ... more logical to catch the thief with a cucumber and put him in jail for a few days ... Which is better? how hard it is to be fair! A hug, Adela

mayoline from Hoorn, Netherlands

Hopefully they are guilty and not innocent ;-))
Well seen!!

30 May 2011 8:07am

Mirjam from Kyiv, Ukraine

It might be that it has the opposite effect?

30 May 2011 8:15am

Sally from Glasgow, United Kingdom

does the one third from the left, top row, come from Glasgow?

30 May 2011 9:08am

@Sally: Maybe, certainly deep Glaswegian and Czech sound the same to me

kiwisa from North Shore, New Zealand

Having their faces posted up is probably a far better outcome than having their thieving hands cut off. The one on the bottom left is very proud of his achievements. Good documentary Chris.

30 May 2011 10:06am

Ted from South Wales, United Kingdom

effective eh?

30 May 2011 10:48am

Thea from Leeuwarden, Netherlands

Cool shot! In our country they only discuss (year after year) about justice like this:)

30 May 2011 11:14am

Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgium

you should have photoshopped your self portrait of the day onto this board - now that would be funny !!

30 May 2011 11:46am

@Jason Kravitz: Damnit, that is a bloody good suggestion. I really missed a trick there!

Pavan Kaul from Mumbai, India

Should be quite effective it seems to me! Well seen and captured!

Art and reality, dificulty to define...

30 May 2011 1:21pm

Julie Brown from Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

They look like a rough crew. Does this deter the thieves?

30 May 2011 1:23pm

Christine from Duns, United Kingdom

Interesting, I agree I think they should do it here.

30 May 2011 1:23pm

The Mouse from Glasgow, United Kingdom

Great idea, ours would all look like number 3

30 May 2011 1:42pm

Jason Politte from Conway, AR, United States

Now, this is an excellent method of stopping crimes like this - how embarassing would it be to have your face up on that board. LOL

30 May 2011 3:06pm

Don from Spokane, United States

I share your view of this low-life activity. Fine image of this approach to notoriety for those who steal. Nice post.

30 May 2011 3:27pm

Zorilla from H, T & E, United Kingdom

Actually I think in England people would see it as a badge of honour. A wall like this would actually encourage thieving.

30 May 2011 3:41pm

Nigel from Avening, United Kingdom

Name and shame............ban them from the market too !

30 May 2011 4:10pm

Sam from Chennai, India

A stunning image. Well seen and captured. Nice colours. :)

heh, cool

31 May 2011 1:32am

MissT from Chicagoland, United States

Seems like a great idea. I wonder how effective it is? Excellent observation, to document it -

31 May 2011 2:00am

Dutch from Neverwhere, United States

Infringes on the right of a thief... it is so sad really. When one does injustice to others it should not be broomed under the carpet.

31 May 2011 2:54pm

Michael Fresh from Chester, United Kingdom

Ahrrr... now everybody knows I'm a thief. Well that's just too bad, justice at last.

31 May 2011 3:33pm

daniela scharnowski from Berlin, Germany

wow, really?!
That is interesting - and i think quite a model to copy. The other day I was witnessing a thief being "caught" by the cashier - she talked to him, giving him the chance to return the item before she calls police - he only grinned and walked away, calm without any hurry. A picture of ppl like this on the store fronts would be something I like - but it might also turn into a competition.

Judy aka L@dybug from Brooksville, Florida, United States

I'm laughing at Jason's comment ... hey, you could have put the whole group's photos in there!
Kidding aside, what a GREAT idea, but the 'rights' of the wrong-doers would deem it not right here, either.
