Axel Rose

Posted by
CElliottUK (Reading, United Kingdom) on 16 October 2010 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

Guns 'n Roses have a well found reputation for-going on late,Axel throwing hissy fits, and having arguments with the audience, management and security staff. None of that happened! They were only 30 minutes late-and that caught a lot of people out out, so a lot of folk were still in the bar, when they started "Early"!!
Axel's voice has all that cutting edge that he is so famous for...the songs could have come off a CD...BUT his stage presence energy and the stage-show really made it something special!

Adela Fonts from Barcelona, Spain

A wonderful image with colors that are echoed. The shoes of the artist with the ladder, certainly a very interesting point of light! I like the different shadows cast by the singer. An interesting gesture showing that his body was completely absorbed in his work! Best regards friend! cheers, Adela

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

Another great capture Chris, how old is he now?

16 Oct 2010 12:05pm

@Curly: W. Axl Rose, real name - William Bruce Rose - was born on February 6, 1962 in Lafayette, Indiana, so if I've done my sums right, that makes him 48

Thea from Leeuwarden, Netherlands

He looks like a lost flower power person, but his singing is not :)
A very nice shot!

16 Oct 2010 1:31pm

Sunder from Chennai, India

Nice angle and great spotlight shot...
This angle makes the audience seem to be so close and over 60% of them have a camera /cell phone to click snaps....He must be popular!!

Axel Rose, nice portrait. Now start acting your age and go to the theatre. TTFN.

16 Oct 2010 3:51pm

@The Mouse: Why?

Christine from Duns, United Kingdom

Superb shot, glad for you he was more or less on time, I heard on the radio yesterday he had been so late for one show, it didn't finish until 12.45!

16 Oct 2010 4:26pm

@Christine: Public transport had more-or-less stopped when I left at midnight-I got home at 3:15 AM! The poor folk on the following day, probably never made it home at all!

DULCIE from Danville, CA, United States

Wonderful light and effect here. It has the look of an artful illustration. Marvelous.

P. Morris from Saskatoon, Canada

His age is catching up with him but as long as he put his axel in the show.
A real great shot, brilliant with light and color which you are known for, your
photos all look so darn professional at a concert. I am so impressed.

16 Oct 2010 6:44pm

Sally from United Kingdom

After yesterday's tremendous shot, I anticipated that you would post a picture of Axel or the band and I was not disappointed. Also, he really does have an amazingly shiny jacket.

16 Oct 2010 7:04pm

@Sally: Now I see why you are smiling!!....sorry to be so predictable!...Oh, the same will happen again next week...sorry...

Ted from South Wales, United Kingdom

This is so good and so good I have some close were you and what sort of lens were you using because the detail is soooo good?

16 Oct 2010 7:13pm

@Ted: Hi Ted, if you look at yesterday's pic, it was taken at roughly 50 mm, so it gives a "Natural " viewpoint. From that, my estimate would be that i was about 120-150ft away, and 60- 75 ft above the stage. The lens is the built-in lens on a point and shoot panasonic-see the EXIF data on the above right. The lens goes up to about 700mm in 35mm terms, but tails off a lot over 550-600mm. The trick with these shots is to wait until the singer is holding a high note-they don't move much then, so 1/60 will work OK. Hope this helps.

kiwisa from North Shore, New Zealand

Again the lighting is great which works so well for his very shiny jacket.

16 Oct 2010 7:38pm

Sally from United Kingdom

Don't be sorry. It really did make me laugh. And Andy too as I told him my prediction yesterday. Looking forward to next week already! xx

16 Oct 2010 10:57pm

Bettina from Los Angeles, United States

Wow, excellent shot. Perfect capture. There's something funny about the moment you caught in his mouth position. Also, has he put on some pounds? :)

16 Oct 2010 11:13pm

@Bettina: He was just singing a high note, which meant that he wasn't a blur of activity. Putting on a few seems to be the fate of all us males-certainly me

flyingwind风飞扬 from Bridgetown, Barbados

Interesting party! Very nice!

daniela scharnowski from Berlin, Germany

Does he has a moustache now? Hm, not about my opinion on blonde moustaches...^^ Oh god, I´m so not up to date with them *shame*
No arguments? What? Are you sure it wasn´t a clone? ;D What I like here is that you caught the audience so clear too - look at all the fellow little borgs with their electronic eyes ;) Good shot!

17 Oct 2010 10:23am

Philip from Reading, United Kingdom

i'm afraid i always thought this guy was an absolute prick.

18 Oct 2010 9:43am

@Philip: You aren't wrong, he does "Prick", "Tosser","Irritating little shit" like no other performer....but he can belt out a tune or 2!!!

Julie Brown from Indianapolis, United States

You had a great perspective for this one!

22 Oct 2010 12:59pm
