Russia's misfortune...was my fortune

Posted by
CElliottUK (Reading, United Kingdom) on 20 January 2011 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

You know those very rare days when your soul is uplifted and things are great?
I had one of those yesterday.
It started when I got up, I could see stars-the sky was clear-the first time in months. As the dawn broke, a sight for my old eyes-a clear blue sky, and frost on the ground!!
But it got better, much better. Mike and I had heard that as a result of a poor summer in Russia, followed by a hard winter, birds called Waxwings had migrated to our shores.
What follows is a series of shots from just one morning of blue skies.

Canon EOS 7D 1/1000 second F/13.0 ISO 3200 500 mm
