The background

As I've got lot's of shots showing Raptors feeding, I thought that it would be good to tell you about where, what, how etc.
I would love to tell you that I shot the birds on the plains of South Africa, but I didn't!. They were all taken here
The birds are exercised each day, and whilst they are not tethered, are trained so that their flight paths are somewhat predictable.
This is one of the trainers throwing bits of chicks in the air for the raptors to catch. Similar tactics -sometimes using a catapult to get the bits higher in the air were used, for most of the shots I took.

@grouser: There is a great similarity! I do clay pigeon shooting, and I've gotta say that sometimes I almost forget whether I've got a gun or a camera in my hand! No birds were harmed whilst making this comment!

Who cares you weren't on the plains of africa, these shots are fantastic. The bird on it's own would be fantastic but the handler gives this photo lots of interest and energy

The relationship with the handlers is as fascinating as the performances, I find. Love this shot for that as well as the photo-skills.
