impressiv exif data in this beautiful image! so good to see healthy chestnut flowers and trees! here, these trees - but only the ones with white flowers - were afflicted with the larvae of the horse-chestnut leaf miner, which led to the premature death of many trees. luckily the majority could be saved through a labour and cost intensive procedure involving fumigating the giant trees in parks and along the roads, so now they are thriving again. interestingly, the pink-blossomed variety was not affected!

2 May 2011 8:05am

@franz: I had to shoot at such a high speed because we've had odd weather, which includes very high winds, for over a week. The flower spike was moving around all over the place!. Very interesting data on the leaf miner...we had the same problem about 3 years ago, but did nothing, and it just seems to have gone away-touch wood!

Now you have to tell us why you titled it 'white horse"? It's a gorgeous bloom and the bokeh is great too.

2 May 2011 8:17am

@kiwisa: This is the flower spike of the Horse Chestnut ("Conker") tree...it comes in a pink variety too...

It is an image that gets me in a good mood and beauty. This type of tree I have not ever seen in my country with this exquisite flower ... The chestnuts that I had seen blooming white flower! A beautiful yard filled with exquisite flowers. A good shot! Best regards, Adela

Luxurious shot! Graceful plant! Sorry I dont know what is its name.

2 May 2011 2:47pm

@Oleg: My title is a play on words. The English name for the tree that these flower spikes come from is a horse chestnut. The trees look the same but there is one type with flowers like this "White", and one type that has pink flowers(Guess what tomorrow's shot is!!!)

Adela Fonts from Barcelona, Spain

Maybe I set my mind right or disappeared over time ... When he goes back to Galicia fixed me more ... Thanks friend! ... Adela
