Winchester Cathedral-where there are flies...

Posted by
CElliottUK (Reading, United Kingdom) on 26 November 2011 in Architecture.

...there are spiders
And there were a lot of flies at the top. This is a shot of one of the tiny(45cm/18 inches by 15cm/6 inches) windows half way up the narrow spiral staircase.
So, perhaps not a trip for Claustrophobic arachnophobes!!!????

A rare shot of a haunted mansion for sure, wow, even in this spot there is an amazing
beauty that only a photograph like this can show so well. Beautiful !~

Maybe not for them, but for you it was a subject to which photograph in an excellent way. Perfect framing and lovely high contrast scene.

Many centuries ago, no one cleans the windows of this magnificent building. I think! However, it has been a lot for the wonderful photographer who seeks to prey on every corner ... Excellent in B / N... A hug, Adela

No, quite...........and obviously not a trip taken too often by the verger with a feather duster.

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

Someone is not on the case with the dusting here. Nice light on the web-masters.
I get claustrophobic in crowded and/or confined space particularly when there is so much noise that peoples' conversation becomes unintelligible. This could be in a crowded restaurant for example. These stairs wouldn't bother me as they are open ended and anyway I would be too busy thinking about where I was putting my feet:)

26 Nov 2011 10:25am

@grouser: My two horrors are-Snakes-I can't even touch a page that has a hi-res picture of a snake on it, and a weird fear of heights. Heights themselves aren't an issue, but a get a really powerful "Sucking" feeling that is trying to drag me over the edge. So as long as I can lean away from the edge(Almost counter-acting the non-existent force) I'm fine

Mhelene from Paris, France

A fantastic framing . Very beautiful !

Wow, my wife would hate this place - you'd think someone would go up there and remove the dust and webs from time-to-time, but then you never would've gotten this fabulous shot. Well seen Chris!

Heights? and you have a pilots licence?
Looks a good visit.

26 Nov 2011 2:10pm

@The Mouse: Ahh, but I'm not scared of heights as such, I'm scared of edges(Cliff-faces etc), so sitting in a plane at 6,000 ft is a very pleasurable experience, whereas standing on a 20ft edge of a hill is horrific!

Kat from Lorraine, France

Great capture !
