Riccardo from Rome, Italy

What is it?

7 May 2013 7:10am

@Riccardo: It's a wild flower called a cowslip. Why did I title it "This is good news"? ..... When I was a kid these flowers were everywhere, and were an essential part of Spring, then, as a result of intensive farming and a lack of environmental awareness, they more or less disappeared. Now they are making a come back in the areas set aside by farmers and land owners for natural habitats. Every time I see one of these, I also hear more birds singing and see more butterflies winging.

Emma G from Auckland, New Zealand

great news! Beautiful shot...good to see that the farmers are letting the cowslip make a comeback :)
