Have I finished the course?

Seen at every County Fair-some Ferret racing.
The Ferrets are described to the audience, if you wish to, you place a £1 bet on which Ferret you think is going to win. Half of the pot distributed to the people who bet correctly, the rest of the money pays for the ferrets food.
Now, dear AM3'ers...I think of this as being a uniquely British sport. Is it played in your Country?

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

Great shot, but (and this may surprise you) I hardly ever see a ferret up north!
The last ferret I saw was in St. James Park, London being walked on a lead :-)

ARIKA from KYOTO, Japan

Lovely! Well done!

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

I'm surprised by Curly's comment, there was me thinking it was the law to walk around with a ferret down your trousers up north, just shows how wide the north south divide has become ;-))

the rest of the money pays for the ferrets food. Gourmet lunches then? :)

5 Sep 2013 9:20am

@grouser: I did notice that the owners all had top of the range Range Rovers, but it would be uncharitable of me to suggest..........

BiLL from Belfast, United Kingdom

Well done, little fellow (and you, Chris)

@Denny Jump Photo: But, have you ever heard of ferret racing where you live?

Denny Jump Photo from Easton, PA, United States

No but I used to work with a very attractive lady who liked to refer to herself as a ferret.....I never ventured beyond that point :-)

This is too cute! I have never seen it before. We do have pig races at our county fair. But, they just run on a track. Nobody bets on a particular one. They just cheer them on!
